Integrative Strategies: COVID-19 Pandemic
Finding calm amongst the chaos can be challenging. The world’s population is facing a new challenge and we all need to be held accountable for the healing that must occur on an individual and global level.
We all are invited to take this opportunity to turn inward during the globally imposed social distancing mandate, as we manage and overcome the threat of COVID-19. This does not mean we need to live in fear and scarcity, while hoarding material goods and isolating ourselves from the world. Rather, we have been given an opportunity to retreat and re-examine our lives. There will be a restoration phase after this pandemic ends. Where will you be during this recovery?
My mentors and colleagues at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine have put together a useful and reliable resource for getting through the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to these considerations, I encourage compassionate self-reflection during this time of social distancing. Consider beginning or deepening a meditation technique or, walk in nature, unplugged, while allowing your creativity to run wild in dialogue with the natural world. Contemplate the status of your life and its direction. Has COVID-19 provided us/you an opportunity to re-examine our life and change direction?
